Robbers flee without money

Two men tried to rob a convenience store near Dudley before dawn today but fled without any money. Five people foiled another robbery Saturday night, and a man was robbed Saturday of $20, according to law-enforcement reports.
When a woman clerk opened the Genoa Mart convenience store at Genoa and Pecan roads at about 5:30 a.m., a black man with a shotgun followed her inside and demanded that she open the office safe, Wayne County sheriff's deputies reported.
As she looked in the office, she said she saw another black man, the report said.
The clerk said she could not open the safe, and the suspects fled. They could not be described.
Two black men, one armed with a handgun, tried to rob five people Saturday night in a car at N.C. Community Federal Credit Union at 2401 E. Ash St., Goldsboro police reported.
The gunman ordered the five to turn over their cash but the driver sped away, leaving the robbers empty-handed. The suspects then fired several shots at the car, striking the trunk and inflicting about $200 in damages.
The gunman was described as being in his 20s, 6-feet and 180 pounds with black hair, and he wore a white shirt, a blue and white scarf over his face, blue pants and a blue and white hat. The other man was described as 6-feet and about 180 to 200 pounds, and he wore a long-sleeved white T-shirt and dark pants.
Meanwhile, Charles Anthony Oates, 42, of Goldsboro told police that he was assaulted and robbed of $20 Saturday in a convenience store parking lot at 901 S. Slocumb St.
The robber was described as black and 6-feet tall with a bald head. He wore a black shirt, black pants and black shoes.
No arrests have been made in the three robberies. Anyone with information on any of them was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481, Goldsboro police at 705-6572 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for cash rewards, if their information leads to an arrest.
