House fire
Ashes left in a trash can from a Sunday barbecue caught fire before dawn today and damaged a home at 1800 Palm St., a Goldsboro Fire Department official said.
Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Langston said the fire quickly spread up the outside wall and entered the attic.
The residents may have been alerted by a smoke alarm, Langston said, and got outside unharmed.
Damage was estimated at $5,000 to the home, owned and occupied by Frank Aanenson, and $500 to contents. The home was valued at $71,000.
Fourteen firefighters answered the 2:12 a.m. alarm.
Accidents
Three people were injured and damages were estimated at $6,000 in two traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.
*Both drivers were injured in a collision at 12:30 p.m. Saturday on Whitfield Drive near Orchard Street. Tino Bell, 48, of Windyfield Drive and Romane Keith Earnest, 26, of West Holly Street were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Bell was charged with a safe-movement violation. Damages were set at $2,000.
*A Goldsboro motorist was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 7:24 a.m. Friday at North Berkeley Boulevard and a ramp to Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway. David Milton Pearce, 33, of Berry Drive was released after emergency-room treatment. Pierce also was charged with a yield violation and driving while his license was revoked. Damages were put at $4,000.
Wanted
Sutton
A 26-year-old man is wanted by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office on two felony charges each of trafficking in stolen identities and financial identity theft.
Tarvaris Dion "Popcorn" Sutton may be staying in Lincoln Homes in Goldsboro.
Anyone with information on Sutton's location was asked to call Flores at 731-1481 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A 396-cubic-inch, 375-horsepower engine was unbolted from a 1966 Chevrolet Impala between July 6 and Saturday in the 200 block of Sleepy Creek Road and stolen along with a radiator. The owner, Anthony Delma Wynn of Dudley, put a $5,140 value on his property.
*A computer system, a scanner, a fax machine, a printer and two bar stools were stolen Saturday from a home in the 200 block of Mobile Circle. The thief had pried open a door to get inside. The resident, Dona G. Felton, estimated the value of the stolen property at $1,715 and damage at $175.
Thefts
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A generator, three push lawn mowers and two weed trimmers were stolen between Friday and Saturday from Warren Supply Co. at 1109 S. George St.. The property was valued at $2,125.
*A combination radio and compact disc player and a cell phone were stolen between Friday and Saturday after a truck window was smashed at Arnold Wilbert Corp. at 1401 W. Grantham St. The property was valued at $1,000. Damage was set at $125.
*A 48-inch high-definition television was stolen from an apartment in the 200 block of West Seymour Drive. The resident, Marquita Danielle Abbott, said the TV was worth $2,561.
*A radio was stolen between Saturday and Sunday after a car window was smashed in the 600 block of North Berkeley Boulevard. The radio was valued at $250. Damage was set at $250 to the car, owned by James Lewis of Dudley.
*A gold, four-door 1994 Honda Accord was stolen before dawn today from the 100 block of Littleton Place. The car, owned by Teresa Soto of Dudley, was valued at $1,800.
*A disabled 1973 Ford truck was stolen Saturday from the median on Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway South, the U.S. 117 bypass. Christopher Jay Chavis of Fremont put a $500 value on it.
*A red and gray 1984 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was stolen between Thursday and Friday from Shelton's Harley Davidson. The truck's value was not listed.
Missing
A 15-year-old Goldsboro boy was reported missing Sunday by relatives to Goldsboro police. Bruce Iyon Coleman of Lot 113, 3201 Central Heights Road, was described as black, 5-feet-1 and 120 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a dark complexion. When he was seen last at 6 p.m. July 28, he was wearing a white shirt, blue shorts and black shoes. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call police at 705-6572.
