Counties debut on state Web site

The region's culture and history are now plugged in as Wayne, Greene, Lenoir and Jones counties make their debut on North Carolina's HomegrownHandmade Web site.
The region of Wayne, Greene, Lenoir and Jones counties has been titled "Creeks, Cooking & Culture." The trail winds through places such as Pollocksville, Trenton, Kinston, Snow Hill, Walstonburg, Pikeville, Fremont, Goldsboro, Dudley, Mount Olive, Seven Springs and Pink Hill.
"It's really a neat thing," said Howard Scott, county extension director. "We've got things in here that are from Wayne County that people can tour and go to museums, festivals, and things like that."
HomegrownHandmade promotes the art roads and farm trails of North Carolina. Currently, the site features trails from the state's Northeast, Southeast and Eastern Piedmont regions.
The site lists country-style restaurants, festivals, museums, parks, farms, hunting areas and historic sites for the regions of the state. It also includes helpful hints for traveling.
HomegrownHandmade will add new listings in the future, Scott said.
