Six indicted on armed robbery

Six men have been indicted by the Wayne County Grand Jury on armed robbery charges. The indictments stemmed from three holdups.
Jabari Fields, 20, of Flamingo Circle, Dudley, and Quentin L. Kenon, 17, of Neil Street were indicted for the April 18 holdup of the Central Park fast-food restaurant at 212 E. Ash St. Both were charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit an armed robbery.
A 15-year-old boy also was arrested by Goldsboro police and charged in a juvenile petition in the robbery. He was not identified because of his age.
Derek Demetrius Cumber-lander, 18, of Marigold Street and Octavian Godette, 16, of East Mulberry Street were indicted for the March 12 robbery of an employee from an auto parts store at an auto repair shop on Royall Avenue.
The employee told police that two black men, one armed with a handgun, snatched his money bag and fled. Hours later Cumberlander was arrested at an apartment on Holly Street and charged with the holdup.
Godette already was in jail on an unrelated robbery charge when he was indicted again for a Feb. 2 holdup.
Two Mount Olive teenagers, Ezekiel Rashawn Simmons, 18, of South Chestnut Street and Anthony Earl Rivers, 17, of South Center Street, were indicted for the armed robbery of a Mexican restaurant on Jan. 4. Both also were indicted for second-degree kidnapping.
Simmons also has been charged with obtaining property by false pretense. Mount Olive police said he admitted to buying food at the Burger King restaurant with counterfeit money.
Other indictments
The grand jurors handed up 49 other true bills, including 17 on drug charges, during its monthly session.
Eleven people were indicted for such property crimes as breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. Five people were indicted on weapons offenses, four each on fraud and sex charges, two each for common-law robbery and assault and one for a traffic violation.
Three people also were indicted as a habitual felons. If they are convicted of a fourth non-overlapping offense, then their sentences would be lengthened significantly.
