Talent scam
Heather D. Yount of Goldsboro told police she met a woman who claimed she was running a talent agency out of Charlotte. The woman identified herself as Dawn Cockrell and said she was recruiting new talent at a hotel in Goldsboro.
Ms. Young wrote the woman a check for $145 to represent her daughter. After the check cleared, the agency's Web site was taken offline and Ms. Yount's e-mails were returned. Ms. Yount told Goldsboro police that there was no sign of the talent agency.
Missing
*Tiffany Mae Smith, 15, of Rouse Street was reported missing by her mother. A student at Belfast Academy, Tiffany is described as 5-feet-2 and approximately 110 pounds, with long blonde hair and blue eyes. Tiffany was last seen wearing blue jean shorts and a black shirt.
*Beverly Levern Moore, 14, of Kennon Court was reported missing by her father. Beverly is described as a black female, 5 feet-5 and approximately 100 pounds, with light skin, black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen walking from her home toward Devereaux Street.
Vehicles stolen
*Theresa Lossman reported a 1990 burgundy Toyota Celica stolen from her home at Fox Drive, Dudley. The vehicle was valued at $4,000. License plate number is GTP35684.
*Christine M. Parker reported her vehicle stolen from a parking lot at 212 W. Walnut Street, where it was in for repair. The 2000 Chevrolet Blazer was described as blue, with license plate EZN7212. The vehicle was valued at $10,000.
Investigations
Wayne County law enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*Torry Tyson Jones, 30, of Woods Drive, Dudley, returned from a trip to find his GMC Sierra had been broken into and a CD player valued at $200 was missing.
*Coley Mahre of East Mulberry Street reported an unknown person damaged the driver's side window of his 2000 Chevrolet S-10. Damage was set at $100.
*Dorothy King of Rudolph Street reported a red and blue boy's Huffy dirt bike stolen from her property. The bicycle was valued at $86.
*Francine Ann Reese reported an unknown person threw a brick and damaged a window at her home on Ivey Street early Wednesday morning. Damage was set at $50 to the window and $20 to the blinds.
*Jessica Evers reported a DVD player missing from her home on Maple Street. The equipment was valued at $93.
*An unknown person damaged an exterior window at Professional Nursing Service at 709 Simmons Street, according to reports. Damage to the window was valued at $150.
*Doris M. Jacobs, and employee of Eastern Regional Vocational Rehabilitational Facility, reported $23 cash and several checks missing from the office at 902 Corporate Drive.
*Kevin Wendell Hall of Banks Court reported damage to the back window glass at his residence. Damage was set at $50.
*Marcus Philyaw reported a red push lawnmower missing from his back porch on Devereaux Street. The mower was valued at $40.
*Darlene Robinson reported several items missing from her apartment on Elm Street. Upon returning to the residence, she discovered it had been ransacked as well. A door valued at $100 was broken. Items missing included two air-conditioning units, a television, jewelry case and earrings. Total value of the items was set at $2,180.
*An unknown suspect entered Wayne Opportunity Center through an unsecured garage door and caused damage to items totaling $3,560. Damaged items included two drink machines, doors and locks.
