Record highs For Wayne County could be broken this week although one of the highest temperatures ever recorded in July was 108 on July 22, 1932.
Temperatures today and Tuesday only have to top 100 and 102, respectively, to break the maximum high for the dates.
Even so, relief is on the way in the form of cooler weather -- highs in the lower 90s and lows in the lower 70s -- but the price will be a good chance of showers and storms between Wednesday night and Saturday. Some of the storms could produce 1 to 2 inches of rain in an hour and cause localized flooding.
