Assault, robbery

An 18-year-old Pikeville man told police he was struck in the mouth with a gun and robbed of a cell phone by an unknown subject in the area of 3200 Central Heights Road on Friday night.

The incident occurred around 11:25 p.m., when Christian Claiborne dropped off two female passengers at Tanglewood Mobile Home Park. He said he was waiting in his vehicle when an unknown male approached and asked for a cigarette, then displayed a gun and demanded money.

Claiborne said the subject reached into the vehicle and took a cell phone from Claiborne's lap and then hit him in the mouth with the gun after Claiborne told him he did not have any money.
