The Goldsboro City Council approved the demolition of two dilapidated buildings at its meeting Monday.
The CSX Freight building on South John Street is structurally unsound and dangerous, said chief inspector Ed Cianfarra. He said efforts to contact railroad officials about the condition of the building were in vain.
An unoccupied house located on 511 Gulley St. also was approved for demolition. The house, owned by Lillie B. Lewis of New York, is not feasible for repair, Cianafara said.
City work crew will perform the demolitions. Owners of the buildings will be billed for their removal.
