Tips to Crime Stoppers lead to two arrests

A business break-in and subsequent theft in Mount Olive have been solved with two arrests after an anonymous phone call to Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers.
A man wanted for a sexual assault was arrested, and three fugitives were apprehended in May because of confidential calls to Crime Stoppers.
The agency's law-enforcement coordinator, Sgt. Dot Ardes, also told the monthly Crime Stoppers board of directors meeting that $1,160 in cash rewards was paid to the anonymous callers. These tips enabled officers to arrest seven people and clear 26 cases in May.
Mount Olive police arrested Raymond "Tiger" Manley, 39, of Nelson Street, Mount Olive, and Michael Earl Dudley Jr., 35, of Durham Lake Road, Dudley, in connection with the break-in and theft of a John Deere lawn tractor. Each was charged with breaking and entering and larceny.
The lawn tractor, valued at $2,599, had been stolen from Waller Hardware on West Pollock Street in Mount Olive. A confidential tipster told Crime Stoppers that it could be found at Manley's home.
The information was relayed to police Maj. Ralph Schroeder, who found that the tractor had been at the home but was no longer there. After a further investigation, Schroeder found that the tractor had been sold to someone in Henderson.
Dudley was developed as the second suspect in the case.
An anonymous caller's information enabled Goldsboro police to arrest Rashon Orlando West, 29, at James and Oak streets.
West, who did not disclose a home address, was wanted in connection with a sexual assault case. On May 15, he was accused of forcing a woman into a vacant home in the 100 block of North Slocumb Street and assaulting her.
Sgt. David Kelly and Investigators Dale Foster, Dwayne Dean and Trey Ball arrested West.
West was charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a concealed firearm.
Executive Director Bill Troutman said calls to Crime Stoppers this year have enabled law authorities to clear 145 cases with the arrest of 44 people, recover $6,968 worth of stolen property and seize $48,210 worth of narcotics.
Since the agency was formed in 1982, anonymous calls have helped authorities clear 6,843 cases with arrests, recover more than $1.7 million in stolen property and seize more than $7.8 million in narcotics.
Anyone with information on any crime in Wayne County was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous, and they may be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000, if their information leads to convictions in felony cases.
