in teen's death
Investigators were continuing today to follow up leads in a drive-by shooting in which a 16-year-old was killed Tuesday night, Goldsboro police said.
Investigator Mike Moore said no warrants have been issued in connection with the death of Otis Dwayne Davis of Lot 215, Central Heights Road.
Davis was shot at about 9:49 p.m. outside of the mobile home that he shared with his mother in Tanglewood Mobile Home Park.
Witnesses told police that two white men were in a burgundy Honda car that sped away from the home after the shooting.

8 people injured
in county collisions
Eight people were injured and damage was estimated at $69,850 in 10 recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*A car was demolished in a wreck at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday on Wayne Memorial Drive near Beaver Run Drive, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Taletha Rebecca Kearney, 23, of Greenville, was charged with speeding after the car that she was driving ran off the left side, struck a ditch, a driveway and a mailbox. The car was valued at $8,000. Other damage was set at $150.
*A driver was injured in a one-car crash at 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Stevens Mill Road near Blackjack Church Road, the Highway Patrol said. Benjamin Chad Carey, 19, of Saulsberry Drive was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. He also was charged with driving while impaired and driving left of center. The report said the car crossed the center line, spun sideways, crossed the center line again, then ran off the right side, struck a mailbox and a ditch and overturned. Damage was put at $2,000.
*Two people were injured and damage was estimated at $7,500 in a two-car collision at 5:10 p.m. Saturday at Camp Jubilee and Zion Church roads, the Highway Patrol said. A northbound driver, Maria Ruiz Banda, 40, of Billy Price Road, Seven Springs, and a westbound driver, Araceli Ariana Sanchez Hernandez, 25, of Zion Church Road, Mount Olive, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Sanchez Hernandez was charged with a stop-sign violation.
*A driver was injured and his sport utility vehicle was destroyed in a wreck at 7:40 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 117, south of N.C. 581, the Highway Patrol said. Joshua Esau Moyer, 21, of Twin Creek Drive was released after emergency-room treatment. He was charged with driving while impaired and speeding after his SUV struck standing water, then ran off the left side, struck a bridge and overturned. The SUV was valued at $13,000.
*Damage was estimated at $5,500 in a two-vehicle collision at 3 p.m. Friday at U.S. 117 and Old Grantham Road, the Highway Patrol said. The driver of a tractor-trailer truck, Edwin Ledell Wallace, 43, of Teachey, was charged with failure to reduce speed. The report said the big rig collided with a stopped, southbound car that was driven by Jayson Leavern Payne, 36, of Suffolk, Va.
*A driver said she became ill and then was injured when her car was demolished in a wreck at 12:15 a.m. Friday on Nor-Am Road near Pikeville-Princeton Road, the Highway Patrol said. Patty T. Bryan, 46, of R&M Circle, Fremont, was released after emergency-room treatment. No charges were filed, the report said, after her car ran off the right side, struck a ditch and two driveway culverts. The car was valued at $3,500.
*A Wayne County Sheriff's Office car was damaged in a crash at 12:40 p.m. June 30 on North William Street near Ash Street, the Highway Patrol said. Sheriff's Sgt. Max Staps had stopped for a construction zone, and a following vehicle rolled into Staps' vehicle. The other driver, James McKinley Romine, 62, of Fremont, was charged with a safe-movement violation. Damage was set at $500 to the patrol car and $200 to Romine's SUV.
*A westbound driver was injured and damage was estimated at $6,500 in a two-vehicle collision at 11:35 a.m. June 29 at U.S. 117 and N.C. 581, or Arrington Bridge Road, the Highway Patrol said. Phillip Michael Jones, 16, of Woodhill Drive was released after emergency-room treatment. He also was charged with a stoplight violation. The sport utility vehicle that Jones was driving collided with a northbound pickup driven by Shirlene H. Davis, 48, of Outlaw Road, Dudley, the report said.
*Damage was put at $8,000 in a one-vehicle wreck at 2:40 p.m. June 28 on U.S. 117 near Country Club Road, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Jeannie Surene Brown, 21, of Rose Hill, was charged with exceeding a safe speed. The report said the sport utility vehicle that she was driving hydroplaned on a wet road, ran off the left side and struck a cable guardrail in the median. Damage to the guardrail was set at $600.
*Two people were injured and their car was destroyed after striking a speed limit sign and overturning at 7:50 p.m. June 28 on Old Mount Olive Road near Outlaw Road, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Lisa B. Sewell, 26, and her passenger, Kylisa Sewell, 14 months, both of Benton Street, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Sewell was charged with exceeding a safe speed. Her car ran off the right side, struck the sign and a ditch and overturned, the report said. The car was valued at $15,000.

Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A video camera, a man's diamond ring, a woman's gold earrings and a small safe were stolen Wednesday after a window was pried open at a home in the 1600 block of East Elm Street, Goldsboro police said. The resident, L.N. Hill, estimated the value of the stolen property at $775 and damage at $100.
*A total of $600 was stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from a home in the 400 block of Frank Street, police said. The money included three $100 bills and 15 $20 bills, a resident, Amy Akers, said.
*A freezer was stolen Friday after a porch was damaged at a home in the 300 block of Hopesway Drive near Dudley, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, Kendrix Earl Roddick, put a $150 value on the freezer and set damage at $1,500.
