Woman robbed

A Goldsboro woman was robbed Tuesday of $500 in the 1000 block of Slaughter Street, according to a police report.

Rhonda Mills Hood of Goldsboro said she was sitting on a bench at about 7 a.m. when a black man struck her in the face and took the money from her purse. Ms. Hood was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released, a spokeswoman said.

The suspect was described as 30-35 years old, 6-feet to 6-feet-2 and 220 to 250 pounds with black hair and a goatee. He wore a red jersey and red pants.

Home, car struck

Predawn gunfire today damaged a home and a rental car in the 400 block of North Carolina Street and Franklin Bakery at 500 W. Grantham St., Goldsboro police said.

Damage was estimated at $500 to Paulette Champion's home, $200 to a rental car and $15 to the bakery.

Collision

Damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday on North Berkeley Boulevard, south of Cashwell Drive, Goldsboro police said.

One driver, Lourdes Castro, 25, of Ada Stroud Road, Seven Springs, was making a left turn into a fast-food restaurant parking lot, the report said. Castro's sport utility vehicle collided with a northbound car, driven by Reginald Mitchell, 55, of South Taylor Street, the report said. No charges were filed.

Thefts

Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:

*A computer was stolen between Sunday and Tuesday after a door was damaged at a home in the 100 block of 11th Street, deputies said. The resident, Johnnie Ray Pelt, estimated the computer's value at $300 and damage at $250.

*Video-game equipment and 15 DVD movies were stolen Tuesday from a home in the 200 block of Pelt Road, deputies said. The resident, William Mark Tyndall, put a $1,000 value on the property.
