Teen died from stab wounds

A teenager whose body was found early Monday morning died after being stabbed by some type of bladed weapon, according to a preliminary medical examiner report.
The body of Jonneka Nikki Spencer, 14, was found early Monday with multiple stab wounds in a wooded area off Church of God Road.
Her stepfather, Roger Lamont Sutton, 32, of Hinnant Road in Pikeville, was charged with murder and first-degree rape by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's Lt. Tom Effler said Sutton cooperated with investigators when they questioned him about the girl's death. Deputies found her body about 3:30 a.m. after responding to a complaint about loud noise at a Hinnant Road address.
The medical examiner in Chapel Hill is conducting an autopsy.
Sutton had been arrested in April in connection with the stabbing of a man and woman in the Fremont area, investigators said. He was released on bond.
