Purse snatched

A juvenile was apprehended Sunday afternoon after Goldsboro police investigated a report of a purse-snatching in the parking lot of Eckerds, 800 E. Ash St.

Barbara Ann Vinson, 49, of Park Avenue, told police the incident happened as she unloaded items from a shopping cart. She said the youth approached on a bicycle and removed the $300 straw purse from the cart and fled south on Herman Street.

The purse was found under a bush on the 900 block of Evergreen Avenue.

Investigations

Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:

*At a Princeton residence Sunday morning, Christina Hope Long, 20, of Ed Ray Drive was advised to secure a warrant after reporting she was punched in the chest and face by a 19-year-old male.

*On Brewington Drive, Tamy Lashelle Perkins, 30, reported a break-in at her residence Friday night. She said a back door was found open. Among the items missing were $3,150 in cash and $4,474 worth of items that included jewelry, a plasma TV and DVDs.

*A silver Sonoma valued at $6,000 was reported stolen from a Gurley Dairy Road residence by Milton Earl Gurley. He said it had been parked under a shed in the back yard and was believed to have been taken sometime between Thursday and Saturday.

Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:

*Jessie Gray Best of Catalpa Street reported the theft of a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu from the front yard of the residence Saturday morning. The vehicle was valued at $10,000.

*Derek Dixon, 17, of Skitt Drive, reported his $300 scooter was taken from a West Grantham Street parking lot Friday morning while he was at work.

*On the 300 block of Myers Avenue, a residence window was damaged when someone gained access and removed stereo equipment, watches and jewelry, estimated value $1,250. Yolinda Atkinson reported the theft Friday afternoon at 3:30.

*Zerineia Carmichael, 25, of N. Carolina Street, reported a break-in at the residence Sunday morning. Among items taken were a $300 money order, lamps, DVDs, a cordless phone, TV and DVD player.

*At 8 a.m. Sunday, Ralph Faircloth, an employee of Worth Transportation Systems in Archdale, told police that a rock was found in the passenger seat of a company vehicle while it was parked on Corporate Drive. He reported the theft of $616 in cash from the glove box of the vehicle.

Accidents

Two people were charged following accident that occured over the weekend.

*On Saturday at 12:10 p.m., Linda Sutton, 62, Alberton, was cited with failrue to reduce speed after her car struck a parked vehicle partially in the roadway on the N.C. 111. According to reports, Ms. Sutton swerved to avoid the car but collided from behind, causing $13,000 damage to her own vehicle and 4500 to a car owned by Wesley Syulvanus Hall of Wallace.

*Melvin Rodney Hobbs, 40, Bear Creek Estates, LaGrange, said he fell asleep at the wheel while traveling north on RP 1728 on Sunday at 6:30 a.m., crossed the center lane and ran off the left side of the road, then lost control, re-entered the roadway and ran off the road on the right side and into a ditch. He was charged with reckless driving and his vehicle sustained $1,200 damage.
