Men robbed
Two men were assaulted and robbed over the weekend in separate crimes, according to Goldsboro police reports.
Antonio Jones, 19, of Wilson was robbed before dawn Sunday by two men who entered an apartment in the 400 block of Courtyard Circle.
The suspects displayed handguns, demanded money, fired shots and pistol-whipped Jones, the report said. Jones treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said.
The amount of property stolen, if any, was not reported.
Sherwood Core, 38, of Dudley told police that a man struck him on the head with a stick at about 7:30 p.m. Friday as Core was leaving a home at Swan and Center streets. Core fell, dropping his money on the porch. The suspect grabbed about $300 and fled, the report said.
Core was treated and released from the hospital. He did not report the crime until early Sunday.
Accidents
Eight people were injured and damages were estimated at $55,550 in 11 recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*An infant passenger was injured in a two-car collision at 6:52 p.m. Sunday at East Mulberry and North Kornegay streets. Treasure Troublefield, 6 months, of West Seymour Drive, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Her driver, Cornelius A. Troublefield, 36, of West Seymour Drive, was going east and was charged with driving while his license was revoked, no operator's license and an equipment violation. Kimberly Denise Alston, 32, of South William Street, was charged with a safe-movement violation at a stop sign. Damages were set at $1,100.
*A driver from Kinston was injured in a one-car wreck at 2:31 a.m. Sunday on East Ash Street near Oak Forest Road. Michael Scott Brownlee, 22, was listed today in stable condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital. His car ran off the left side, striking four mailboxes before stopping. He was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, driving while impaired, reckless driving and no operator's license. Damages were put at $5,000 to the car and $200 to the mailboxes.
*Damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-vehicle crash at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on North William Street near Patetown Road. Rex Garland Smith, 58, of North Pineview Avenue, was charged with a yield violation.
*A driver said a truck forced the car that she was driving off the road, resulting in $5,000 in damages, the Highway Patrol said. Stephanie Lynn Cormier, 17, of Crows Foot Road, Mount Olive, was traveling east on Rosewood Road at 11:15 a.m. Saturday. Her car crossed the center line while rounding a curve, then ran off the right side and struck a road sign and shrubs. No charges were filed.
*Damages were estimated at $12,500 in a one-truck wreck at 12:45 p.m. Friday at N.C. 55 and Grantham School Road. Tony Alan Joyner, 37, of Clinton was charged with exceeding a safe speed.
*Two people were injured and damages were set at $5,700 in a two-vehicle collision at 5:05 p.m. Thursday at U.S. 13 and Overman Road. Rodolph Taylor, 65, and his passenger, Linda Burtchell, 42, both of Loop Road, were released after emergency-room treatment. Juan Vela Morua, 43, of South Slocumb Street, was charged with a stop-sign violation.
*A car was demolished in a wreck at 10:35 a.m. Thursday on Wayne Memorial Drive near Best Avenue. Carol R. Martin, 31, of Leavie Drive, Pikeville, was charged with a lane-control violation. Her car ran off the roadway, struck a ditch and two brick driveway columns,. Damage was set at $2,500 to her car and $2,000 to the columns.
*Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $8,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday in a convenience store parking lot at Bill Lane Boulevard and Arrington Bridge Road. Adelita Cisneros, 24, of Emmaus Church Road, Mount Olive, and her passenger, Diana Carolina Perez, 20, of Peachtree Drive, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Cisneros was charged with failure to reduce speed.
*A man on a moped was injured in a crash at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday on Old Grantham Road near Bryan Boulevard, the Highway Patrol said. Willie Ray Morris, 70, of Emmaus Church Road, Dudley was listed today in stable condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital. No charges were filed. Damage was fixed at $50.
*Damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-car collision at 4:30 a.m. June 12 at U.S. 13 and Saulston Road. Scott Daley Faulkner, 21, of Camp Lejeune, was charged with a safe-movement violation. Eduardo Lopez Cobon, 25, of Rocky Mount, was charged with not having an operator's license.
*A driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6 p.m. June 11 at Salem Church and Stoney Hill roads. Veronica Nicole Brown, 25, of Cuyler Best Road was listed today in stable condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital. No charges were filed. Damages were put at $3,500.
Horse stolen
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A 3-year-old bay stallion horse was stolen between Friday and Saturday from a farm in the 100 block of Pine Branch Lane, deputies said. The owner, Jerri A. Barnett of Dudley, said the horse was worth $1,500.
*Two televisions and a video cassette recorder were stolen Sunday after a door was damaged at a home in the 100 block of Pinkney Road, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, C.A. Pinzer, estimated the value of the stolen property at $650 and damage at $250.
*A black, four-door 1993 Chevrolet Caprice was stolen Saturday from the 800 block of Outlaw Road, deputies said. The owner and resident, Alphonso Polite, put a $4,000 value on the car.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*About $6,020 worth of property was stolen between Thursday and Sunday from a home in the 1500 block of Evergreen Avenue, police said. The thief had damaged a door to get inside, the report said. The resident, Sharon Hammond, reported the theft of a laptop computer, a digital camera, a combination video cassette recorder and DVD player, 40 DVD movies, diamond earrings, charms, a suitcase, an air pump and a battery charger. Damage was set at $200.
*An overnight case, snacks and a tote bag were stolen between Saturday and Sunday after a window was broken at a home in the 200 block of South Jefferson Avenue, police said. The property was valued at more than $58. No damage estimate was listed at the Edsel Williams home.
*A DVD player, 15 compact discs and a window fan were stolen between Sunday and dawn today after a window screen was damaged at a home in the 500 block of Colonial Terrace Drive, police said. The resident, Sylvester Wright, put a $241 value on the missing property.
*A microwave oven and coffee maker were stolen between Friday and Saturday after a two doors were damaged at a home in the 500 block of North Leslie Street, police said. The owner, Kenneth Baransky, estimated his property's value at $160 and damage at $280.
