WCC receives report card

Wayne Community College has received its annual report card from the state.

The Performance Measures report released recently shows how WCC compared last year to other colleges in the system and how the system as a whole was performing.

*The report said 55 of the 58 community colleges met the required standard. The average composite measure for the system was 80 percent, and WCC had a composite measure of 76 percent.

*WCC had an aggregate passing rate of 88 percent on licensure and certification exams and recorded no exams with a passing grade of less than 70 percent.

*The report said 56 community colleges met the performance standard of graduates of certificate, diploma, and degree programs who reported that their primary goal in attending was met. The system average was 99 percent. Wayne Community College's rate was 100 percent.

*WCC recorded 99.67 percent of its 2002-03 graduates employed within one year of graduating.

*For students who completed an associate degree in 2002-03 and transferred to a UNC system institution within one year, 87.2 percent had a GPA equal to or greater than 2.0 after two semesters at a university. Wayne Community College's percentage was 96.0.

*WCC's developmental course students passed all courses attempted (English, 86 percent; math, 84 percent and reading, 96 percent).

*Wayne Community College reported that 67 percent graduated or returned.

*Employers of 2002-03 community college graduates were surveyed, and ninety-four percent of WCC's responders were satisfied with the individuals they employed.

*WCC had no programs with less than 10 students.
