July concert to include blues, jazz and gospel

WEJA Enterprises Artistic Productions will present its 4th annual music festival, "An Evening of Jazz, Blues & Gospel" on Saturday, July 9.
The concert will begin at 6 p.m. in the Dillard Middle School auditorium, 1101 Devereaux St.
The festival will feature the "Blues Doctor," Drink Small of Columbia, S.C.
Small's 1986 recording, "Blues Doctor, Live and Outrageous," was nominated for a W.C. Handy Award. In 1990, the South Carolina General Assembly awarded him the state's Folk Heritage Award for guitar playing and singing.
Nine years later, he was inducted into the South Carolina Entertainment Hall of Fame.
The opening act will be Willie E. Atkinson, a jazz and blues vocalist who has performed at jazz festivals around Northern California, Japan and the Philippines, and The Transitional Jazz Quartet.
The WEJA Music Festival will also present "In The Spotlight" featuring young upcoming musicians.
Ticket prices are $15 for adults; $10 for ages 12 and under; and $120 for groups of 10. The box office opens at 4 p.m. on the day of the music festival.
