Telemarketing center to add 120 jobs

A new business will create about 120 jobs in downtown Goldsboro.
The North Carolina Frater-nal Order of Police will locate a new fund-raising call center in the former First Citizens Bank on North Center Street.
The FOP, the oldest and largest law enforcement organization in the world, plans a full service, out-bound call center to begin operations this month.
The company will be looking for telephone sales representatives, call center management personnel and administrative support personnel. Anyone interested in working at the center should contact the Employment Security Commission.
Employees at the center will call people to let them know more about the FOP, general public safety and to ask for support through donations.
The money raised provides a variety of services to members of the order, including death benefits for the families of member officers, legal support and aid for members and their families and legislative activities aimed at improving law enforcement in the state.
Lee Walters, a retired Durham police sergeant, will be the director of the Goldsboro fund-raising cen-ter. Walters has been a member of the state order for more than 30 years. He has served as state president, vice-president and treasurer.
The Wayne County Economic Development Commission helped the FOP in its search for a building and for information on the availability of employees.
"Our role in this project symbolizes our commitment to help locate new businesses in Wayne County and to en-hance the region's economic well-being," said Jimmie Ford, chairman of the commission.
Michelle Blackwell, vice-president of the commission, said that in addition to the jobs the company is expected to create, its mere presence could also stimulate other development downtown.
"We were excited to be a part of the FOP's location decision," she said.
