Underwear stolen
Two juveniles were caught Friday stealing six pairs of underwear and a woman's girdle, worth $85, from Belk Department Store. According to the police department, the two suspects were observed concealing the items inside their clothing. Once they left the store they were detained by the loss control officer and the police were called. The police notified the parents. The store declined to prosecute the juveniles.
Surfing anyone?
Two surfboards, valued at around $1,100, were stolen from a storage shed next to an apartment on Cashwell Drive. Matthew Mulvihill reported that someone had broken the lock on the storage unit and stolen the boards, along with stereo speakers, military uniforms and basketball jerseys.
Tires slashed
A Goldsboro woman found all four tires on her 1998 Chevrolet had been slashed, and reported that someone had also struck the car with a tree limb. The incident happened on Stadium Drive.
Empty cage, no birds
Emma Fuller of Claiborne Street reported two parakeets missing. According to the police report, someone removed a bird cage containing the two birds from Ms. Fuller's window air-conditioning unit. The cage was left on top of the unit.
Accident
An automobile accident Friday afternoon in Goldsboro sent one man to the hospital, where he was treated for injuries and released. According to the police report, John Earl Dockery, 71, of Dogwood Street, was charged with a safe movement violation after his vehicle collided with a car being driven by Heather Marie Burnette.
Officers say that Dockery attempted to turn his 2003 Cadillac left onto James Street and collided with the 2004 Chevrolet driven by Ms. Burnette. She was traveling east on Grantham Street. There was an estimated $2,000 worth of damages done to the Cadillac and about $3,000 to the Chevrolet.
