A 20-year-old man from Dudley has been sentenced to about 10 to 15 years in prison for his part in last year's armed robbery of three young men and the attempted armed robbery of two convenience stores.
Ivan Devon Harvey Jr. of Birddog Lane pleaded guilty to three counts of armed robbery. He was sentenced by Judge Jerry Braswell of Goldsboro to 65 to 87 months in prison.
Harvey was accused of robbing three men Nov. 2. The men had gone to a home on Brownrigg Street to visit friends. Police said as the men were leaving, they were approached by five people with weapons. The suspects robbed the men of cash and other property and fled inside.
A second defendant, Dwayne Lee Hardy, 21, of South Carolina Street, had pleaded guilty to armed robbery and was sentenced to 70 to 102 months.
Another defendant, Jamal Clerfont, 20, of Brownrigg Street, was charged with three counts of armed robbery, but he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit an armed robbery. He received a 25- to 39-month suspended sentence and was ordered to pay $667 in restitution to the victims -- Christopher Cooper, Bradley T. Deaver and Brandon Barrow.
The other two defendants, Joslyn Gabrielle Moore, 18, of Brownrigg Street and Tonenetta Kaliliah McKnabb, 20, of Creech Street, have not been tried.
Harvey also pleaded guilty to the attempted armed robbery of two convenience stores on Nov. 30. He was sentenced to 65 to 87 months.
A clerk at the Spur gas station at 2000 N. William St. said a man asked for change for a $5 bill. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, Harvey grabbed the clerk's arm and said he would shoot. The clerk resisted, and Harvey fled.
Two hours later, Harvey bought a cigar at The Pantry at 901 W. Grantham St., displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The clerk refused and told the suspect he was being videotaped. The suspect ran away.
Harvey was arrested Dec. 2 by Goldsboro police in the 400 block of North Virginia Street without incident, identified and charged with the two crimes.
