Drug charges
A Fremont man wanted by Johnston County authorities was arrested Tuesday by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and charged with two felony drug offenses and misdemeanor violations.
Antwan Ralph Brown, 23, of Bayberry Circle had been convicted in Johnston County of drug trafficking and sentenced to 35 to 42 months in prison. But he did not show up for sentencing.
Brown was charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine, driving while his license was revoked and improper passing. He also was held on two outstanding arrest orders on traffic violations. Brown was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $151,000 secured bond.
Meanwhile, a 44-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested before dawn today by Goldsboro police and charged with a felony drug offense and misdemeanor violations. Thadis Coley Jr. of Luther Drive was charged with possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, an opened container violation and two counts of resisting arrest. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,900 secured bond.
Teen charged
A Goldsboro teenager was arrested Tuesday by Goldsboro police and charged with three felony offenses in connection with a residential break-in.
Michael Hackney, 16, of Prince Avenue was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. He was accused of breaking into a home in the 600 block of South Claiborne Street in March, Investigator W.P. VanWijk said. Hackney was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.
A 15-year-old youth also was charged in the case. He was not identified because of his age.
14 hurt in wrecks
Fourteen people were injured and damages were estimated at $46,250 in eight recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*A driver was injured in a two-car collision at 1:50 p.m. Monday at Tommy's and Hare roads, the Highway Patrol said. Friedrich Immanuel Blanke, 39, of Vinson Road, LaGrange, was treated, admitted and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. The other driver, James Leslie Thompson, 45, of East Forest Hill Drive, was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign. Damages were set at $3,500.
*Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $8,400 in a two-vehicle crash at 6:45 p.m. Sunday at U.S. 117 and N.C. 581, or Arrington Bridge Road, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Glen Dean Glaspie, 55, of Tar Heel Lane, Warsaw, and a passenger, Jackie Conyers, 38, of N.C. 50-U.S. 117, Warsaw, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Glaspie was charged with a stoplight violation. His car, the report said, collided with a northbound pickup truck driven by Eric Gordan Rhyder, 32, of Clayton.
*Damages were estimated at $8,500 in a two-vehicle wreck at 10:46 p.m. Saturday at Wayne Memorial Drive and Saulston Road, the Highway Patrol said. Dianne V. Henderson, 51, of Knightdale, was charged with a stoplight violation. Her car had collided with a westbound van driven by Russell Fate Daughtry, 76, of Saulston Road. The van then careened into a concrete column protecting gas pumps at a convenience store.
*Two people were injured in a one-truck wreck at 4:50 p.m. Friday on Camp Jubilee Road near Zion Church Road. The driver, Betty M. Whitfield, 38, and her passenger, Garry Whitfield, 5, both of Whitfield Road, Mount Olive, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Whitfield was charged with suspicion of driving while impaired after the pickup ran off the left side and struck a ditch. Damage was put at $1,000.
*An 8-year-old boy on a bicycle was injured in a collision with a pickup truck at 4:35 p.m. Friday on Ada Stroud Road near Camp Jubilee Road, the Highway Patrol said. Miguel Angel Morales-Ortiz of Ada Stroud Road, Seven Springs, was released after emergency-room treatment. The motorist, Doroteo Peralta, 24, of Camp Jubilee Road, Seven Springs, was charged with failure to reduce speed and no operator's license. Damages were set at $250.
*Four people were injured and damages were estimated at $9,000 in a two-vehicle crash at 1:25 p.m. Friday at Wayne Memorial Drive and Saulston Road. One driver, Melanie E. Harper, 29, and her passengers, Hannah Elizabeth Parker, 3, and Thomas Michael Harper, 1, all of Saulston Road, and the other motorist, Davie Curtis Shoates, 46, of Striding Ridge Drive, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Harper was going east on Saulston Road, and Shoates was traveling north on Wayne Memorial Drive. No charges were filed.
*Four people were injured and damages were estimated at $9,200 in a two-vehicle wreck at 11:50 a.m. May 24 on U.S. 117 Alternate near Brook Terrace Road, the Highway Patrol said. A southbound driver, Amy W. Summerlin, 32, and her passengers, Breanna Summerlin, 2, Kristina Summerlin, 10, and Victoria Summerlin, 5, all of U.S. 117 Alternate, Dudley, were released after emergency-room treatment. A northbound driver, Victor Manuel Calleros, 24, of Spring Bank Road, was charged with driving left of center. The report said Calleros had swerved to the left to avoid a car that was stopping in front of him and collided with Ms. Summerlin's oncoming auto.
*Damages were set at $6,400 in a two-vehicle collision at 12:45 p.m. May 24 at U.S. 70 and O'Berry Center Road, the Highway Patrol said. A northbound driver, Timothy Ryan McBride, 26, of Greenville, was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign. The rental car that he was driving, the report said, collided with an eastbound car driven by Robert Kevin McNally, 40, of Matthews.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*An antique well pump and a lock were stolen and carpet and walls were damaged at a rental home in the 3000 block of N.C. 581 North, sheriff's deputies said. The owner, Barbara L. Johnson of Smithfield, estimated the value of the stolen property at $125 and damage at $1,000.
*A woman's watch, video-game equipment, movie DVDs, a compact disc player and hair clippers were stolen between Friday and Tuesday from a home in the 1800 block of East Holly Street, Goldsboro police said. The thief had smashed a door glass to get inside, the report said. The resident, Montori D. Pearsall, estimated the value of the stolen property at $670 and damage at $50.
Missing
Two teenage sisters who live at 3115 Grantham School Road were reported missing Tuesday by relatives to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
*Anastasia T. Lewis, 18, was described as black, 4-feet-5 and 165 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. When she was seen last at 4 p.m. Saturday, she was wearing a pink shirt and blue jeans.
*Andreanna A. Lewis, 15, was described as black, 5-feet and 165 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She wore pink sweatpants and a pink and white top.
Anyone with information on the location of either girl was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
