Man robbed
A 22-year-old man was robbed Friday night of $900 and a handgun by three men in the Winn-Dixie parking lot off U.S. 117 South in Mar Mac, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
Bradford Noah Faircloth of Mount Olive told deputies that three men approached him as he was entering his car at about 7:30 p.m., then assaulted him, grabbed the money from his pocket, took the firearm from his car and fled in a compact car.
One suspect was described as wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. The other two were not described. The trio fled in an older, off-white Nissan Stanza.
Faircloth said the green .45 caliber handgun was owned by a friend and valued at $500.
Robbery charge
A 46-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Saturday night by Goldsboro police and charged with felony common-law robbery and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods.
David Earl Lewis of Elton Drive was accused of assaulting and then stealing a wallet with $350 and personal papers from Jerry B. Laws of Lenoir in a motel parking lot, the report said.
Lewis then fled through bushes but was scratched on his face, police said. About 15 minutes later, Officer B.L. Gilstrap found the suspect and recovered the wallet and $100 that were returned to Laws. Lewis was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $7,000 secured bond.
Collisions
Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $23,750 in three recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*Both cars were demolished in a collision at 11:55 p.m. Sunday at Harris and South Slocumb streets, police said. An eastbound driver, Lap Hin Leung, 17, of Harris Street, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said Leung was making a left turn and the car that he was driving collided with an oncoming, westbound auto, driven by Stacey Denise Jones, 35, of Clayton. The cars were valued at $11,000.
*Damage was estimated at $5,250 in a three-vehicle crash at 1:50 p.m. Friday at East Ash Street and North Audubon Avenue, police said. An eastbound driver, Anna S. Null, 41, of Greenfield Cemetery Road, Seven Springs, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said Ms. Null was making a left turn and the car that she was driving collided with a westbound auto, driven by Dorothy Ann Cutlip, 29, of Pineview Cemetery Road, Seven Springs. The impact of the collision, the report said, pushed the Null car into a stopped, southbound minivan, driven by James Edward Norville, 62, of Audubon Avenue.
*Both drivers were injured and damage was estimated at $6,500 in a two-car wreck at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday on Arrington Bridge Road, or N.C. 581, near Westbrook Road, the Highway Patrol said. Fermin Landeros Contreras, 21, of Pleasant Pines Drive and Nakesha Nicole Bowden-Faison, 24, of Benton Street were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Contreras was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end wreck. Ms. Bowden-Faison was charged with an expired tag.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Four diamond rings, a bracelet and four charms, a silver wedding band and two small-caliber handguns were stolen between Friday and Saturday after a safe was damaged in a home in the 5500 block of U.S. 70 East, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, Tammie L. Driggers, put a $2,935 value on the stolen property.
*A gunshot shattered a glass storm door before dawn today at a home in the 500 block of Rollingwood Drive, sheriff's deputies said. No one was injured. The resident, T.B. Lee, estimated damage at $200.
*A shotgun was stolen between May 21 and Saturday after a door was damaged at a mobile home in the 2300 block of Selah Church Road, deputies said. The resident, Ernestine Best, said the weapon was worth $100. Damage was set at $100.
Drug charge
A 20-year-old man from Atlanta was arrested Sunday by Goldsboro police at Holly Street and Astor Court and charged with two felony drug offenses.
Brandon Renard Weeks was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of keeping and selling marijuana. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $7,000 secured bond.
Parole studied
A man sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of armed robbery is being considered for parole. Fletcher Royal was sentenced Oct. 18, 1979, in Wayne County Superior Court.
The state Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission is now accepting comments in regard to Royal's possible parole. Anyone can call the commission at 1-919-716-3010 or write to it at 2010 Yonkers Road, Raleigh, 27699-4222.
The commission has the responsibility of conducting annual reviews of eligible offenders for crimes committed before Oct. 1, 1994. The state's current structured sentencing law eliminates parole for crimes committed after that date.
Missing
A 17-year-old Goldsboro boy was reported missing Sunday by relatives to Goldsboro police. Adam Nicholas Robert of 111 Powers Court was described as white, 5-feet-8 and 180 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. When he was seen last at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, he was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call police at 705-6572.
