Mount Olive police arrested Robert "Bobby" Leach May 17, in connection with the same murder.

Chief Emmett Ballree said police do not want to speculate on a motive for the murder at this time.

Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The chief confirmed the victim appeared to have been assaulted and suffered from at least one gunshot wound when officers arrived on the scene.

"These arrests are the result of a very thorough and exhaustive investigation by this department, along with the cooperation and help from members of the community who were appalled by this vicious crime," the chief said. "We ask anyone that might have any additional information that might help in the investigation and prosecutions of this case please call the Mount Olive Police Department or Wayne County CrimeStoppers."
