MOUNT OLIVE -- Town Inspector Kenny Talton's last full day at work is today in the Mount Olive Planning Department, where he has been nine years.
He will take some vacation time and then start work June 1 as Goldsboro's plumbing inspector. The building, electrical and mechanical trade fields will be his secondary responsibilities.
Talton has known the Goldsboro staff for about seven years. He considers his new job a move up, both personally and professionally.
"I believe it's a move in the right direction," said Talton. He will continue to live in Mount Olive.
He's looking forward to the change, but he will miss working two blocks away from where he lives.
"I'll take that 15-mile trek every day," he said. "I can't tell you when was the last time I listened to a morning radio show. I'm looking forward to John Boy and Billy."
