Central Alumni and Friends plans 33rd Annual Homecoming

The 33rd annual homecoming of Central Alumni and Friends will be Friday through Sunday, May 27-29.

Classes being honored are the Central High classes of 1945, 1955 and 1965 and the Eastern Wayne High classes of 1975, 1985, 1995 and 2005.

The deadline to buy tickets for the opening banquet May 27 at the Seymour Johnson Officer's Club and for the picnic to be held the following day at Eastern Wayne Middle School is Saturday, May 15.

The events scheduled for the weekend include the banquet, which starts at 7 p.m., and a fellowship hour that will follow at 9. Milas Kelly Jr., of the class of 1975, will be the featured speaker at the banquet.

A parade will be held Saturday, May 28, with entries lining up at the Eastern Wayne Middle School campus at 11 a.m. The parade starts at noon, with the picnic beginning afterward at 1 p.m. Families are asked to bring lawn chairs and desserts. The afternoon will include games and other activities as well as a drawing.

A hospitality hour will begin at 9 p.m. at the Quality Inn on U.S. 70 bypass. Tickets are $10, $15 at the door.

Dutch breakfasts will be held Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday breakfast will be held at 8:15 a.m. at Fletcher's restaurant and Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Crossroads Cafe.

The weekend's events will wind up Sunday with an awards and gospel music program at 5 p.m. at Woods Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. The featured speaker will be Marshall Jackson of the Central High Class of 1965.
