19 students complete Junior Leadership

Nineteen high school students completed the Junior Leadership Wayne County program last week.
"Leaders are here," said Dan Krautheim, senior vice president of Wayne Community College, during the May 3 graduation program at the college. "They will be ready to take over for us, whatever the field."
Krautheim joked that he even felt freer to retire now than capable replacements were being trained.
This was the sixth class of Junior Leadership, which is an indepth study of Wayne County's businesses and industry, educational systems, agribusiness, politics and other areas.
The program was started by the 1999 class of Leadership Wayne County. They had hoped that if high school juniors were exposed to the county's opportunities and challenges, some might choose to return after college.
"I am strongly considering coming back and giving something back to the community that has given so much to me," said graduate Darryl Wright.
Casey Sutton learned a great deal about leadership this year, she said. Great leaders are able to communicate their own passions and lead others to action.
"The truest test of a leader is his or her willingness to provide aid to others," she said.
Wright and Miss Sutton were chosen by their peers to speak. The other graduates are Hameka Canady, Jesse Fryt, Kelli Gurley, Zachery Hardison, Donna Harrell, Floydie Harris Jr., Katherine Johnson, Joy Kelly, LaDonna King, Jamie Mills, Danielle Pender, Kasey Powell, Carmen Sauls, Jonathan Stutts, Thomas Williamson, Ross Wilson and D'Adrin Worrell.
