City residents may detect a slight difference in the taste of their tap water this week. Once a year, the state requires the city to convert its water system from chloramines disinfectant to a "free chlorine" disinfectant. That period will be the first week in May this year. The city will revert to its usual process next week.
Water service will be interrupted Monday, from 8 a.m.-noon, for residents in the 1000 block of South Best Street. The outage is necessary as city employees install a water valve and replace a fire hydrant.
