Dole Staffer to assist BRAC Commission

A member of Sen. Elizabeth Dole's staff will be assisting the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission, according to a spokeswoman for Ms. Dole.

Christine Hill, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, will join the commission as director of legislative affairs. She previously served as Ms. Dole's legislative assistant for military affairs on the Armed Services Committee. Ms. Hill was also responsible for constituent correspondence regarding military issues.

Ms. Hill retired from 20 years of active duty and has served in Ms. Dole's office for 2 years, Lindsay Taylor said.

"We are certainly sad to see her depart from our office," said Ms. Taylor.

She said Ms. Hill's knowledge would be helpful to the commission.

"She has seen first-hand the unique military structure of our state," Ms. Taylor said. "She's knowledgeable about all the missions of our installations."

A native of Savannah, Ga., Ms. Hill was the first female crewmember of a B-1 Bomber, serving as a navigator, Ms. Taylor said. She retired from active duty after 20 years.
