More than $16,000 was raised at the sixth annual Founder's Cup Golf Tournament held recently at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course. It was a fund-raiser for United Way's Endowment Fund.

Twenty-six teams participated in two divisions. Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Services won in the gross score division. First Citizens Bank took first place in the net score division.

Corbett Cummings, a member of the Progress Energy team, won a Big Max scooter from Scooters Unlimited for making a hole in one.

Bob Logan, golf tournament co-chairman, said more than $80,000 has been raised for the endowment fund through the golf tournament over the past six years.

"This is a special fund, separate from our annual campaign," he said. "Our local United Way has a long and successful history of being a leader in providing funds to numerous health and human service agencies in our community. This fund will help us strengthen and sustain our mission for future generations."

The seventh annual event is planned for April 28, 2006, at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course.
