selling seminar set
A seminar for people who are considering selling their house or purchasing a home will be held on Tuesday, May 3, at the Wayne County Public Library.
The seminar, featuring several speakers involved with the various aspects of buying and selling, will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. There is no charge for the two-hour session.
Jane Bartlett, a real estate agent with Town & Country GMAC Real Estate, has organized the seminar and will be one of the speakers.
Others on the program include Emily York, a mortgage lender with Coastal Mortgage; David Cox, a home inspector with Amerispec Home Inspection Service; and Lyn Williford Jr., an appraiser with Williford Apraisal Service. A real estate lawyer is also expected to be on hand.

Telecommunicators are recognized
Wayne County's 24 full-time and 10 part-time public safety telecommunicators answer an average of 1,000 calls a day and dispatch public safety officers to 200 emergencies a day.
The Wayne County emergency dispatchers and others around the country are being honored during this National Public Safety Telecommunica-tors Week.
"Since consolidation of the telecommunicators in October, 2002, they don't have much down time," said Delbert Edwards, the telecommunicators' supervisor. "We want the public to let them know how much we appreciate the job that they do."
Another pickle clue
A jar of Mt. Olive Pickles has been hidden in Mount Olive as part of the N.C. Pickle Festival in less than two weeks. Clues have been printed that will lead someone to the location of the pickles.
The pickles will be labeled, "You are a winner in the NC Pickle Festival Treasure Hunt." The winner should bring the winning jar to the Mt. Olive Area Chamber of Commerce. The winner will receive a pickle pack donated by the Mt. Olive Pickle Company.
Today's clue: Julie, I just want to remind you that you will have to thread your way through the crowds to taste a dilliscious Mt. Olive Pickle. Don't forget to buy one of the new NCPF visors or "Have you heard about" T-shirts that feature pickles on cellphones. Your heart will beat faster when you see all of the antique cars at the festival.
