Man gets ride
atop car hood
After a LaGrange man end up atop the hood of a Goldsboro woman's car for a two-block ride Wednesday night, Wayne County deputies had to sort out how it happened.
Jeffrey Lynn Carter, 37, of Andres Lane, told deputies that he had been standing in the cul-de-sac near his home around 8:30 p.m. when Sadie Nelson Sutton, 42, of Hood Swamp Road, drove up. She was looking for her husband, Carter said.
Carter told deputies that he was 30-45 yards away from Mrs. Sutton's car when she started to leave in a hurry and driving right at him. He had no time to do anything but leap on the hood of her Pontiac Grand Prix.
She continued to drive for two blocks before Carter slid off, he said.
Deputies found Mrs. Sutton at home and heard a different version.
According to Mrs. Sutton, when she drove on the cul-de-sac, an angry Carter confronted her. Carter began kicking her door and windows and said he was going to kill her, she said.
When she started to leave, Carter jumped on the hood and continued to threaten her, she said. She said she did not stop because she was scared.
Deputies found bootprints on the vehicle that matched those on the bottom on Carter's shoes.
Neither Mrs. Sutton nor Carter was immediately charged in the incident.
Deputies did arrest Carter on an outstanding warrant for failure to pay child support.
Teens hurt
in wreck
Two Goldsboro teens were injured in a two-car accident Monday morning, the N.C. Highway Patrol reported.
Around 7:30 a.m., Cyde Russell Sneed, 16, of Scotts Hill Drive, was driving on Old Grantham Road and was turning left onto Ridge Drive when his 1999 Ford was hit by a 1993 Jeep, reports said.
Both Sneed and his passenger, Jaboha Sneed, 14, of the same address, were transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.
The Jeep driver, Phat Hong Tran, 18, of Twin Creeks Drive, was reportedly uninjured. Both vehicles had $5,000-$7,000 in damage.
Sneed was cited for a safe movement violation.
The Highway Patrol also is investigating a single-car accident Wednesday morning.
Shortly before 6 a.m., a 1992 Ford ran a stopsign at the intersection of Northeast Church Road and Kelly Springs Road, near Mount Olive. The vehicle hit a ditch and then flipped. The driver left the scene of the accident.
The Ford, which is registered to Octavio Velasquez Gonzalez of Dudley, had about $5,000 in damage.
Investigations
Wayne County deputies are investigating these reports:
*Someone pried open a door in a model home at Grace Homes, U.S. 70, and stole two end tables, two lamps and a coffee table, worth a combined $310. The loss was reported Wednesday.
*Jonathan Michael Harbaugh, 30, of Sweeten Branch Road, Pikeville, told deputies that he was playing with his kids in his yard Wednesday evening when he heard a gunshot. He then found a bullet hole in his home. Juveniles were heard yelling and laughing in nearby woods, but deputies could not find them later.
*A window and screen was broken at Kinder Kottage, Old Grantham Road, Tuesday night by a suspect who took $20 worth of food. Damage was estimated at $120.
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A 1995 Nissan Sentra, worth $2,000, was reportedly stolen in March from Spence Place Apartments. The owner, Malisha Shaleen Faison of Rosewood, reported the loss Wednesday.
*John Anthony Schultz found the back window of a Ford Explorer broken Wednesday morning. Damage was estimated at $400. The vehicle was parked at Schultz' home in the 1100 block of Beech Street.
*Someone broke into a vehicle parked in the 1600 block of Laurel Street and took 25 CDs, a coat and a cellphone. LaShaundon Katerie Smith reported the theft Wednesday.
