Fugitive caught
A 25-year-old Goldsboro man -- wanted by New York City police on two murder charges -- was arrested Tuesday by Goldsboro police.
Jarvis Cromwell was captured at his home on John Court and placed in the Wayne County Jail without bond.
Cromwell was accused of the murders on Jan. 17 in New York. He was arrested by Investigators Mike Moore and Paul VanWijk with assistance from two New York police detectives, Stephen DiSchiavi of the Manhattan North homicide squad and Adam Tegan of the 33rd Precinct detective squad.
Man robbed
A man from Dudley was robbed Tuesday night of $90 and a pack of cigarettes as he was walking in the 700 block of South Slocumb Street, Goldsboro police reported.
Prentis A. Sutton told officers that two black men approached him at about 10 p.m., and one pointed a small handgun at his head and demanded that he empty his pockets. The suspects grabbed the money and cigarettes and ran.
The gunman was described only as a short man with a small build, and he wore a black and orange jacket, blue jeans and black shoes. The other suspect was not described.
Two charged
Goldsboro police arrested two teen-agers Tuesday during a traffic stop on Murray Street and charged them with felony possession of a stolen firearm and misdemeanor possession of a concealed weapon.
Perez Donovan McDuffie, 18, of Third Street was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond. Kilvon Joel Artis, 18, of North John Street also was charged with possession of marijuana and exceeding the posted speed limit. He was jailed in lieu of a $5,200 secured bond.
Driver hurt
A driver from Dudley was injured in a two-vehicle collision at 9:51 p.m. Tuesday at John and Mulberry streets, Goldsboro police said. Shirley Elizabeth Barfield, 34, of Arrowhead Lane was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokesman said.
A northbound driver, Angel Fuentes Hernandez, 23, of Green Valley Drive, was charged with a safe-movement violation and no operator's license. The report said Hernandez turned left and his car collided with Ms. Barfield's oncoming, southbound sport utility vehicle. Damages were set at $4,000.
Car stolen
A white, two-door 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier was stolen before dawn today from the 1600 block of East Ash Street, Goldsboro police said. The owner, Christopher Dale Harrell of Mount Olive, told police that he had left the key in the car at about 4:30 a.m. and walked to a nearby gas station to call for help. When he returned, the car, valued at $2,600, was gone.
