Two injured

Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $32,300 in four recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.

*Damages were estimated at $6,000 in a two-car collision at 5:10 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen and South Andrews avenues, Goldsboro police said. An eastbound driver, Gerald A. McDuffie, 30, of Whitfield Drive, was charged with a safe-movement violation at a stop sign. A northbound motorist, Alejondre Shon Greenfield, 30, of Pearl Street, Dudley, was charged with not having an operator's license.

*A passenger from Goldsboro was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 10:30 a.m. Friday on North Berkeley Boulevard near Cashwell Drive, police said. Pamela Diaz, 11, of Central Heights Road was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Her driver, Norma Ondina Hernandez, 31, of Central Heights Road, was charged with an improper lane change. The report said Ms. Hernandez switched from the left lane to the right lane and her northbound car collided with pickup driven by Delores Ann Jaggers, 56, of Billy Price Road, Seven Springs. Damages were set at $1,300.

*A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $16,000 in a two-vehicle crash at 1 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 117 South, the Highway Patrol said. Alyssa Echo Painter, 19, of Jeff Outlaw Road, Mount Olive, was released after emergency-room treatment. She also was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said Ms. Painter had switched to the left lane and the southbound car that she was driving collided with a tractor-trailer truck driven by Bradwick Braddock Gross, 33, of Duck Ridge Drive, Pikeville.

*Damages were estimated at $9,000 in a two-vehicle wreck at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday at Big Daddy's and Antioch roads, the Highway Patrol said. A northbound driver, Gerald Douglas Viverette, 55, of Raleigh, was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign. His auto collided with an eastbound sport utility vehicle driven by James Jacob Goff, 16, of East Wayne Street, Fremont.

Thefts

Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:

*About 10 cartons of Newport cigarettes were stolen Friday night from Danny's Gas and Grocery at 3590 U.S. 13 South, sheriff's deputies said. The thief had smashed a door glass to get inside. The cigarettes were valued at $320. Damage was set at $600.

*Furniture, garden equipment and tools were stolen between March 26 and Sunday from a garage in the 3900 block of Stevens Mill Road, deputies said. The brother of the resident, Albert S. High of Pittsboro, put a $3,900 value on the stolen items. Some property, valued at $700, was recovered. The landlord, David Anthony Neal of Goldsboro, also reported the theft of a stove and refrigerator, valued at $873.

*A four-door, red 1993 Nissan coupe was stolen Saturday from the 200 block of Lou Alma Drive, deputies said. The car, owned by Marion W. Jenkins of Goldsboro, was valued at $5,000.

Investigations

Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:

*Two bowling balls and bags, a pair of bowling shoes and bowling ball cleaner were stolen Friday after a vehicle window was smashed in the 400 block of East New Hope Road, police said. The owner, Ricky Lloyd Hinson of Goldsboro, estimated the value of the stolen property at $530 and damage at $300.

*A XM satellite radio was stolen between Sunday and dawn today after a car window was shattered in the 1400 block of East Holly Street, police said. The owner, April Harper of Goldsboro, said the radio was worth $300 and set damage at $200.

*A cellular phone and a purse with $8 and personal papers were stolen between Thursday and Friday after a car window was broken in the 100 block of North Lionel Street, police said. The property, owned by Eve P. Harris, was valued at $298. Damage was set at $250.

*A disabled two-door 1993 Chrysler LeBaron was stolen between Friday and Sunday from a yard in the 700 block of Stronach Avenue, police said. The resident and owner, B.S. Coley, said the car was worth $2,500.

*A man left his car unlocked with the key inside on Saturday night at the Best Value Inn on Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway and returned Sunday to find it missing, police said. Gregory Leon White of LaGrange said the gray, two-door 1985 Chevy Cavalier was worth about $1,500.

Drug charges

A 20-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Sunday by Goldsboro police on Courtyard Circle and charged with two felony drug offenses.

Gerquon Alexander Brewington of South Andrews Avenue was charged with felony possession of two controlled substances. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond.

Three charges

A Goldsboro man was arrested Sunday by Goldsboro police and charged with three felony offenses.

Michael Burnette, 44, of East Elm Street was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and breaking and entering of a vehicle. He was arrested by Officer S.O. Hatcher at Ash Street and Madison Avenue. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.
