Clean-up month

Goldsboro residents will be able to arrange for free curbside pickup of bulky items they want to discard.

The city's annual spring cleanup will begin Friday and continue through the month of April. Residents can call the general services department for an appointment. Items should be placed at curbside the night before pickup.

The city will accept furniture, appliances and bulky items like mattresses and box springs for free. Normally, it charges $5 to collect up to three of these items and $10 for up to six; an appointment is always required.

It cannot take rooms of furniture, dirt, building materials, carpeting, engine parts, gas or kerosene containers, wet paint or any hazardous materials.

For an appointment or more information, call 734-8674.
