The Cole Bros. Circus coming to Goldsboro Saturday and Sunday will include a number of new attractions, says its promoter.

"This is an all new show," said Ron West, the marketing director for the circus. "It's a main event from start to finish."

The circus will be at the Wayne County Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday, with the big tent going up from 7-10 a.m. on Saturday. The public is invited to the tent raising.

Advance show tickets are available at the catalog department of JC Penny at Berkeley Mall, by calling 1-800-919-6272, or through the Web at www.tickets.com

Among the new acts, West said, will be a motorcycle rider who will perform a spin on a high wire while his partner swings from a trapeze beneath him. Other featured performers include the Human Slinky, the Human Cannonball and a special appearance by Spider-man.

West and Professor Kno-Y, one of the circus's clowns, were on a promotional visit to Goldsboro on Friday. The professor, whose real name is Roy Dietrich, said he has been a professional clown for 15 years in six countries. Between stops he said he spends a lot of time visiting hospitals, nursing homes and day-care centers.

The circus is being sponsored by the News-Argus to benefit scholarship programs at Wayne Community College and Mount Olive College.

Show times will be 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
