Fire investigation
In the area of 800 Camp Jubilee Road, witnesses reported a fire to a building in the rear of a residence was intentionally set early Saturday morning.
Fire and rescue personnel responded at 3:01 a.m. Sheila Shepherd of Seven Springs told deputies with Wayne County Sheriff's Office that after an argument with her boyfriend, he broke a fish tank on the front walkway. A witness at the scene reported the man was seen waving a gas can before he lit a match and set the building on fire before leaving the area.
Accidents
Police investigated four accidents on Friday and ticketed four drivers.
*On Parkway Drive approaching Berkeley Boulevard, Gasper Gonzalez, 72, Violeta Circle, said his view was blocked by bushes as he made a left turn, colliding into a car driven by Brandon Allen Croom, 20, Kinston. Gonzalez was charged with a safe movement violation; his car received $1,800 in damage. There was $2,000 damage to the Croom vehicle.
*At 11:45 a.m. on U.S. 70 east near Wayne Memorial Drive, Juan Ramiro Perez, 23, of Mount Olive, was charged with failure to see subject turning from a direct line. According to the accident report, he attempted to change lanes after a vehicle in front of him applied brakes, but did not see another vehicle in time to avoid a collision and sideswiped the car driven by Linda Judkins Marshall, 49, Selma. Damages was estimated at $1,000 to Perez's car and $2,000 to the Marshall car.
*Chikara T. Kennedy, 22, Cashwell Drive, was charged with improper backing after she struck an unoccupied car in a parking lot on Eastgate Drive at 5:50 p.m. on Friday. Her car received $500 worth of damage, with another $200 in damage to the second vehicle.
*On Royall Avenue at 6:21 p.m., Brian Oates, 26, Rones Chapel Road, Mount Olive, was charged with failure to reduce speed after a rear-end collision with a vehicle driven by Anthony Howard Silcox, 36, Vandenburg Street. Damages were estimated at $200 to Oates' car and $600 to the Silcox vehicle.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating a report of theft on a man's property on Big Daddy's Road. Bobby Lee Gooding told deputies several items of unknown value were taken sometime over the last week, including two plows, a fertilizer distributor and aluminum siding.
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*On the 1700 block of Edgerton Road, Latonia Petterson, 76, reported the theft of $300 in cash, blank checks, and four gold rings valued at $800. She said she returned home Friday afternoon and found a bedroom in disarray and the items missing.
*Andrew Kornegay, 69, of Slaughter Street, said phone lines outside his residence had been cut by an unknown source. The report was filed at 6 p.m. Friday.
*At Citi Trends on Center Street on Friday afternoon, an estimated $300 worth of damage was done to a front door. Mary Taylor of the business told police an altercation had occurred inside the store between two subjects. Once outside, one of the subjects, a female, broke the glass in the front door.
*Brian Badger, 24, reported the theft of a black 9 millimeter semi-automatic pistol from his apartment on the 100 block of Oakwood Street, at 2 a.m. Friday. Badger told police he had met a female earlier in the day and she later came to his residence with another female and a male. He discovered the pistol was missing after they left and told police he did know any of the subjects' names or addresses.
