A new headmaster has been named for Wayne Country Day School.
Todd Scott Anderson will start work July 1, said the school's board of trustees.
Anderson was introduced to the school's faculty, students and their parents today.
Current headmaster Eddie Radford announced last month that he will retire at the end of the school year.
Anderson, 48, comes from Carolina Day School in Asheville, where he served as upper-school principal. Prior to that he served as student principal at Boston Latin School in Boston, Mass. Before that, he worked in several capacities at a preparatory academy in Hawaii.
Anderson earned his master's degree in education from Harvard University and is currently working on his doctorate in educational administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
"I'm thrilled to become part of the Goldsboro community and I'm looking forward to working not only with the Wayne Country Day School family but the entire area," he said this morning.
Beverly York, the chairman of the board of trustees, welcomed Anderson as the eighth headmaster of the school.
"His selection culminates a process involving a field of well-qualified candidates," she said. "We feel that his educational credentials and philosophy are very much suited to the Wayne Country Day School vision and mission. I am very appreciative of the efforts of the search committee and unanimous support of the board."
