Four hurt in wrecks
Four people were injured and damage was estimated at $15,900 in three recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*Three people were injured in a two-vehicle wreck at 5:21 p.m. Friday on North Berkeley Boulevard near New Hope Road, police said. One driver, Karen W. Peralta, 49, and her passengers, Lauren Peralta, 15, and Kara Peralta, 10, all of Maplewood Drive, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. The other driver, Michael David Gaskins, 26, of Vail Road, Pikeville, was charged with a safe-movement violation after the rear-end wreck. Damages were put at $200.
*A driver from Goldsboro was injured and damages were estimated at $7,100 in a three-car crash at 3:34 p.m. Friday on Central Heights Road near New Hope Road, police said. Kaci Carlene Lanier, 20, of Wilson was released after emergency-room treatment. She also was charged with failure to reduce speed, expired registration and no liability insurance after the rear-end crash. The other motorists were listed as Elben R. Brozovsky, 50, of Corbin Road and Valeria V. Moskalev, 18, of Cedar Road.
*Damages were estimated at $8,600 in a two-vehicle crash at 4:10 p.m. Friday on N.C. 55 near N.C. 111, the Highway Patrol said. The report said an eastbound driver, Jose Xivr Ramos, 29, of Nutgrass Street, Mount Olive, was starting to make a left turn into a driveway at the same time a pickup truck was passing him. Ramos was charged with a safe-movement violation. The other driver, Maros Escalante Velazquez, 25, of Taco Drive, Seven Springs, was charged with hit and run.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A custom-made four-wheeler, valued at $10,000, was stolen between Friday and Saturday from a barn in the 300 block of Providence Church Road, sheriff's deputies said. The owner and resident, Christopher Daniel Bass, said he used the vehicle for racing.
*A 12-gauge pump shotgun was stolen between Thursday and Friday from an office in the 4000 block of N.C. 55 West, deputies said. The thief had broken a door glass to get inside. Freddie Norton Ellis of Goldsboro said the firearm was worth $500. Damage was set at $100 to the building, owned by John William McCullen.
*Gunshots on Sunday night damaged a home in the 100 block of North Running Deer Circle near Dudley, deputies said. The resident, Alvin Jay Allen, estimated damages at $550 to the vinyl siding. a door, molding and sheet rock.
Thefts
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Thieves rammed a golf cart and a pickup truck with a forklift between Friday and Sunday at Goldsboro Iron and Metal Co. at 801 N. John St., police said. Three two-way commercial radios were stolen, and two fire extinguishers were discharged in a building. The radios were valued at $750. Damages were set at $3,200.
*A marble-top table, a television, a mirror, a dresser, books, lamps and $20 in pennies were stolen between Jan. 25 and Sunday after two windows were broken at a home in the 600 block of Sherrod Court, police said. The resident, M.B. Mullen, estimated the value of the stolen property at more than $645 and damage at $60.
*A 52-inch television, a 20-inch monitor, two gold chains, clothes and a game system were stolen between Saturday and Sunday from a home in the 900 block of West Oak Street, police said. The resident, Timothy Cherry, put a $2,860 value on the property.
*Thieves stole a hand-held computer, ice cream treats and nabs from a truck and damaged a window at Pet Dairy at 1105 N. William St., police said. Most property was recovered. Damage was set at $300.
*A blue and white 1995 Mercury Villager van was stolen between Saturday and Sunday from the 900 block of Hopkins Street, police said. The resident and owner, C.D. Brown, said the van was worth $8,000.
Drug charges
Two people have been arrested by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and charted with felony drug offenses in their home on Marlette Drive.
Juan Tramaine Smith, 25, and Crystal Frances Roldan, 23, were charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling marijuana.
Smith also was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $211,300 secured bond. Ms. Roldan was jailed in lieu of a $15,000 secured bond.
Missing
A 14-year-old Goldsboro girl was reported missing Saturday by relatives to Goldsboro police. Swanika Tequilla Brodie of 1204 Judy Place was described as black, 5-feet-4 and 100 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion.
When she was seen last at 7:25 a.m. Friday, she was wearing a red sweatshirt, blue jeans, brown shoes and a jeans jacket. Anyone with information on her location was asked to call police at 705-6527.
