Men and women in the military

Army Spec. Tonya D. Wooten has returned to Wuerzburg, Germany, after a deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Wooten is regularly assigned to the 67th Combat Support Hospital in Wuerzburg.
While deployed in Iraq, her unit provided command, staff and technical support to soldiers and other military members wounded or injured on the battlefield. Doctors, nurses, and specialists from all fields of the Army's medical activity provided and performed emergency and routine medical treatment and healthcare assistance to troops serving in Iraq. Staff and echnical members included surgeons, dentists, therapists, pharmacists, nutritionists, patient and personnel administrators, and logistical, transport and management support specialists.
Wooten, an automated logistics specialist, is the daughter of Carolyn F. Wooten of Quail Drive, Goldsboro. She is a 1989 graduate of Goldsboro High School.
Airman Matthew B. Darlington has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, Darlington studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Donna and Michael Darlington of Hooks Road and a 2004 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School
Air Force Airman Ryan G. Sheffield has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of Pamela and William Sheffield of Goldsboro and a 2002 graduate of Goldsboro High School.
Airman Gregory D. Collins II, a 2003 graduate of Goldsboro High School, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, Collins studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. He is the son of Celeste Collins of Goldsboro and Gregory Collins of Clinton, Md.
Army National Guard Pvt. Carmello T. McClendon has graduated from the Automated Logistical Special-ist Advanced Individual Training course at the U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School at Fort Lee inPetersburg, Va.
The course is designed to train soldiers to establish and maintain stock records and other documents such as inventory, materiel control, accounting and support reports.
McClendon is the daughter of Janice D. and Derrick W. McClendon of Goldsboro and is a 2004 graduate of Goldsboro High School.
Debra Gates, an E-2 in the U.S. Army graduated in February from medical specialist training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She is currently stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. Gates is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and the daughter of Debra Dyess.
