Six people have been indicted on charges for the armed robbery of a Goldsboro bank, and five more have been indicted for an armed robbery last year at a Goldsboro home.

The Wayne County Grand Jury handed up 77 true bills of indictment during its monthly meeting.

The six were charged with two counts each of armed robbery of The New Century Bank on N. Spence Ave. on Oct. 22, 2004. Quentin Bryce Barnes, 19, of North George Street, had been convicted of robbing the same bank last May. He was on probation when he was arrested and charged with robbing the bank again.

The other five were Octavius M. Broadhurst, 17, and Rodney Antwan Forte, 18, both of Maple Street; Melena Louise Hudgins, 18, of East New Hope Road; Leon Vinson Jr., 18, of South John Street, and Demetrius Richard Hamm, 27, of Level Street.

The five other people were indicted on three counts of armed robbery. They were accused of robbing three men Nov. 2 at a home on Brownrigg Street. Jamal Clerfont, 20, and Joslyn Gabrielle Moore, 18, were arrested several blocks away. Two others -- Dwayne Lee Hardy, 20, of South Carolina Street and Tonenetta Kaliliah McKnabb, 20, of Creech Street -- were arrested two weeks later. The last suspect, Ivan Lee Harvey Jr., 20, of Birddog Lane, Dudley, was arreste Dec. 2. He also was charged with the attempted robbery of two convenience stores.

A 12th man indicted on a charge of armed robbery. Anthony Alphant Lee, 40, of Timothy Street, Dudley, also was accused of barging into a home Jan. 11 in Dudley, shooting the resident several times and trying to burn the home.

He was charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, attempted first-degree arson and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill while inflicting serious injury, in addition to armed robbery.

Twenty-seven people also were indicted by the grand jury for such property crimes as burglary, breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods.

The grand jury handed up 12 true bills on drug charges, seven for such fraud charges as embezzlement, false pretense, forgery and uttering, five for assault charges, four for sex offenses, two for traffic violations and one on a weapons charge.

Eight people were indicted as habitual felons. If they are convicted of a fourth, non-overlapping crime, then their sentences would be lengthened significantly.
