The Pikeville town board held its monthly meeting at the community center Monday night.
All bids for contracts on the remainder of Pikeville's park project are to be submitted by Thursday at 5 p.m., town administrator Lonnie Graves said. Still up for bidding are the walking trail, amphitheater, and playground at Dees Memorial Park. The park is being built on the old Pikeville School grounds.
Also at the park, it was decided that several limbs on some of the larger trees at the park site will be removed, for aesthetics and safety, Graves said.
Boy Scout Troop 18 has volunteered to perform a litter sweep of the town in late April. A date has not been set.
In addition to the litter sweep, board members decided that the town would hold a 'spring cleaning' near the same time. Graves said the town will pick up items such as household appliances that are no longer needed.
Board members also agreed to waive light fees until June on the baseball field to encourage use.
To prepare for potential annexation, board members approved the purchase of water lines on Big Daddy's Road. "That area has a huge potential for growth," Graves said.
