Driver injured
in rollover crash
A driver was ejected from his sport utility vehicle Friday after it overturned several times following a collision with a car at Harris Street and South Andrews Avenue, Goldsboro police reported.
Jack Shane Carter, 28, of Lake Avenue, Dudley, was rushed by ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville. Carter was listed Saturday night in stable condition, a spokeswoman said.
The other driver, Joshua Matthew Hunt, 25, of Prince Avenue, was charged with driving while impaired and a safe-movement violation.
The report said Hunt was traveling east on Harris Street, then stopped at about 7:23 a.m. in the center turn lane and started to make left turn onto South Andrews Avenue. The front left corner of the car that Hunt was driving struck the back left quarter panel of the SUV that Carter was driving. The impact caused the SUV to roll over several times, and it stopped right side up, 160 feet from impact.
Hunt and two women passengers were not injured.
Damage was estimated at $5,000 to each vehicle.

Man sentenced
for robberies
A 29-year-old man from Wilson has been sentenced in Wayne County Superior Court to about four to six years in prison after being convicted of two armed robberies.

After hearing Venegas' testimony and that of several sheriff's officers, the jury needed only 26 minutes to return a guilty verdict in the four-day trial.
Hernandez was sentenced by Judge Jack Jenkins to 50 to 69 months in prison.
The third defendant, Carlos Antonio Ramos, 32, of Wilson, pleaded guilty Dec. 13 to two counts of armed robbery and was sentenced to 38 to 55 months.
