Misplaced calls

The Mount Olive town board learned during a work session Wednesday that the 13-year old telephone system at Town Hall needs replacing. People are not getting the calls that are transferred to them. It appears that they go to the right place, but they don't.

That happened to Town Manager Ray McDonald one afternoon. It was a quiet afternoon and no calls came in. Or so he thought.

"I wasn't going to say anything," said McDonald after the police chief brought up the subject.

McDonald said it seemed mighty quiet that afternoon. He asked the chief if he would like to get some of his calls.

It's Focus Edition day

This is the annual Focus Edition of your Goldsboro News-Argus.

The Focus Edition provides in one package stories on a wide range of developments during the previous year in Wayne and northern Duplin counties.

The newspaper's staff has been working on it for weeks. Readers will not be able to digest it all in one sitting, but it can be kept for perusal at leisure.

Because of the size of the Focus Edition, the newspaper's Friday television supplement, TV Showtime, appeared in Thursday's edition instead.
