Cases solved with the help of Crime Stoppers

Two drug cases and an armed robbery were solved with arrests, and a fugitive was captured after anonymous calls to Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers.
The agency's law-enforcement coordinator, Goldsboro police Sgt. Dot Ardes, told the Crime Stoppers monthly board meeting that three other drug cases and a break-in were cleared with arrests and three other fugitives were arrested from Dec. 31 to Jan. 30. The anonymous callers were to be paid cash rewards for their information.
A caller's information about illegal drug activity in the 500 block of South Leslie Street enabled the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad to arrest two residents on Jan. 4.
Jeffrey Roland James, 26, and Sheilene K. Brown, 19, were charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and heroin, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling cocaine and heroin, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Drug squad officers seized four grams of heroin, valued at $800; five grams of cocaine, valued at $1,000; marijuana, valued at $20, and $1,500.
An anonymous caller's tip alerted the drug squad about a large drug delivery Jan. 5 to a home in the 1800 block of Dobbersville Road. The squad responded and seized 43 pounds of marijuana, valued at $43,000.
Two men, Tony Merrill McCullen, 44, of Dobbersville Road, Mount Olive, and Brian Christopher McCullen, 30, of Eula Mitchell Road, LaGrange, were arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana and conspiracy to traffic in marijuana.
A confidential call to Crime Stoppers helped the Wayne County Sheriff's Office solve the armed robbery and assault of a Dudley man on Dec. 30.
As a result of the call, Ricky Allen Ballance Jr., 20, of Paradise Lane, Dudley, and Jonathan Reeves, 23, of Mobile Circle, Dudley, were arrested and charged with armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
The fugitive, Tiszon Olajuwon Evans, 18, of U.S. 13 South, was wanted by sheriff's officers on a charge of first-degree rape. An anonymous caller said Evans was on Seymour Drive in Goldsboro. D-shift police officers arrested him Jan. 4 and turned him over to sheriff's detectives.
Since the inception of Crime Stoppers in 1982, Executive Director Bill Troutman said 6,748 cases have been cleared with arrests, more than $7.8 million in illegal drugs has been seized and more than $1.7 million in stolen property has been recovered.
Anyone with information about any crime in Wayne County was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may be anonymous, and they may be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000, if their information leads to arrests in felony cases.
