Girl Scouts holding informational meetings

The Girl Scout Council of Coastal Carolina has started holding monthly information meetings for the public.
The meetings are being held at noon on the second Wednesday of each month at the council office at 108 E. Lockhaven Drive.
Executive Director Debbie McDowell-Tate said the meetings are designed to let people know what the Girl Scouts organization is doing and how they can become a part of it.
The annual cookie sale is the best-known Girl Scout project, she said, but girls involved in scouting do much more.
"There's so much more than cookies, camping and crafts," she said. "Cookie sales are great, but we need the community to support us in other ways as well."
Girl Scouts have always been at the forefront in the advance of women in American society, Mrs. McDowell-Tate said, noting that the founder of Girl Scouting, Juliette Lowe, was a woman whose thinking was ahead of her time.
