CHAPEL HILL -- Two members of the Goldsboro News-Argus staff, David Rouse and Barbara Arntsen, were honored Thursday night by the North Carolina Press Asso-ciation.
The association presented its annual awards for excellence in journalism at the Winter Newspaper Institute, held yearly in cooperation with the University of North Carolina and Duke Univer-sity.
In the competition, the News-Argus' Internet site, www.newsargus.com, was named the best in the state among all newspapers re-gardless of size. Rouse, the newspaper's network manager, accepted the award.
Ms. Arntsen accepted a second-place award among newspapers the size of the News-Argus in the category of Investigative Reporting. Her stories reported efforts by the retired Goldsboro city attorney to participate in the state retirement plan after he had been ruled ineligible.
