MOUNT OLIVE -- The sale of the Boling Furniture Co. to Red Hill Distributors Inc. remains in negotiations but an announcement is expected soon, says a source close to the company.
Boling shut down during the Christmas holidays, idling more than 40 workers.
But the former purchasing manager at the plant said she expects it to be back up and running soon.
Elva Garner, who was purchasing manager for Boling, said today that she understands from officials with Red Hill that some renovations would be necessary if the sale goes through. The plant would continue to make furniture under the Boling brand name.
Workers at the plant made office furniture. The plant has been in operation for more than 90 years but has had three owners in the past decade.
