300 attend annual King breakfast

More than 300 people turned out this morning for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration breakfast.
The event was held at the H.V. Brown Hall in the Goldsboro-Dillard Alumni Center.
Goldsboro Mayor Al King welcomed the crowd.
"I hope we don't take this day lightly," King said. "I hope we honor the legacy of Dr. King."

Wayne County Commisssioner Efton Sager praised King for helping change America.
"Dr. King gave people the faith and courage to keep working for change peacefully, even when others did not," Sager said.
Sager added that King was a man of faith.
"No obstacle is too large to overcome if you keep your eye on Jesus," Sager said.
The event included trivia questions and answers about local black historical figures.
Music for the event was provided by the Charles B. Aycock High School Jazz Band. The Hispanic Community Dance Group also performed.
