Woman charged
in kidnap scheme
A woman who said she was assaulted and kidnapped last weekend and then recanted her story was arrested Tuesday night by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with filing a false police report.
Grace Janine Hall, 34, of Mark Edwards Road was released from the Wayne County Jail after posting a $3,000 secured bond.
Ms. Hall had told deputies that she had taken her car Saturday to a home in the in the 100 block of Ellis Drive to be repaired and then she was assaulted and kidnapped. She had said neighbors had tried to stop the abduction but could not and she was kept in a motel until Sunday. Ms. Hall said the man brought her back to Ellis Drive, but she escaped and the man fled. Neighbors then took her to police who notified sheriff's deputies of her story.
Charges against the man were dismissed.
Fugitive found
A man wanted for a long time was arrested Tuesday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with a felonious assault.
Reginald Sherwood Scott of Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, was charged with assault inflicting serious injury. He also was wanted on three outstanding arrest orders and a state probation violation. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $20,000 secured bond.
Sheriff's Deputy William Wells was notified of Scott's location. Then Sgt. Carter Hicks said Wells and other C-shift deputies, armed with a search warrant, found Scott at his home. Deputies Chuck Schaeffer and Ronald Carrasquillo assisted.
Deputy in wreck
A Wayne County sheriff's deputy was involved in a collision with a pickup truck at 6:07 p.m. Sunday on Durham Lake Road near Sandhill Drive, the Highway Patrol said.
Deputy Eric Robinson, 33, of Goldsboro had turned on his blue lights and siren, then slowed down and started to pass a pickup truck towing a trailer, the report said. At the same time, the other driver, Larry Donnell King, 44, of Loop Road, was starting a left turn into a driveway, then report said.
After the collision, Robinson's patrol car ran off the left side, struck a tree and two mail boxes, came back on the road and stopped in the left lane, the report said. No charges were filed. No one was hurt.
Damage was estimated at $7,500 to Robinson's 2004 Ford patrol car, $750 to King's pickup and $170 to the mail boxes.
Drug charges
Two Goldsboro men were arrested Tuesday by Goldsboro authorities and charged with felony drug offenses.
*Aratika Omhaya Anderson, 25, of East Elm Street was charged by police with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $4,500 secured bond.
*Junior Smith, 54, of Lime Street was charged by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad with possession of cocaine. He was jailed in lieu of a $1,500 secured bond.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A handgun, a compact disc player, two speakers and an amplifier were stolen between Monday and Tuesday from a pickup truck in the 1500 block of Indian Springs Road, sheriff's deputies said. The thief had smashed a window to get inside. The owner and resident, Richard E. Bautista, estimated the value of the stolen property at $2,170 and damage at $300.
*A pair of boots and a duffel bag were stolen Tuesday after a mobile home door was damaged at a home in the 100 block of Parks Road, deputies said. The resident, Shawnette Davis, estimated the stolen property's value at $115 and damage at $150.
*A black, four-door 1995 Mazda 626 was stolen between Sunday and Tuesday from Stevens Mill and James Hinson roads, deputies said. The owner, Vivian Worley of Dudley, said the disabled car was worth $1,000.
*A rifle and a shotgun were stolen between Jan. 4 and Monday from a pickup truck in the 100 block of Lindsey Brook Lane, deputies said. The owner and resident, Jerry Worrell, put a $2,400 value on the firearms.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Nine bottles of prescription medicine were stolen between Tuesday and dawn today after a window was smashed at Southeast Family Pharmacy at 223 N.C. 111 South, police said. The medicine -- Hydrocodone, Percocet and Endocet -- was valued at $274. No damage estimate was listed.
*A gray, four-door 1987 Nissan Sentra was stolen between Thursday and Monday from the 600 block of Slaughter Street, police said. The owner, Barbara Williams, of Goldsboro, put a $1,000 value on the car.
Missing
A 32-year-old man has been reported missing by relatives to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Roland Jakal Parker of 240 Manley Grove Church Road, Mount Olive, was described as white, 6-feet and 180 pounds with light brown hair and blue eyes.
When he was seen last on Friday, Parker was wearing a navy blue shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
