Theft of firearms
cleared with arrest
The larceny of $7,143 worth of firearms, a bulletproof vest, electronic equipment and computer equipment was cleared Thursday with the arrest of an 18-year-old man.
Evans
Tiszon Olajuwon Evans of U.S. 13 South was charged by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office with one felony count of second-degree burglary, larceny, possession of stolen goods, breaking and entering and larceny after a break-in.
He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
Evans was accused of stealing firearms, a bulletproof vest and electronic equipment with a value of $5,521 on Dec. 25, Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour said. Two days later Evans was accused of stealing a computer, worth $1,622, from the same person.
Some property has been recovered and returned to the owner, Farfour said. More arrests are possible, he said.
Two more detectives, Sgt. Ray Brogden and Robert Chunn, assisted in the investigation.
Evans also had been arrested on a charge of first-degree rape. He was accused of brandishing a knife and raping a 16-year-old girl who knew him, Sheriff's Capt. George Raecher said. He was jailed in lieu of an $85,000 secured bond.
After two anonymous calls to Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers, Evans was arrested by Goldsboro police in Seymour Johnson Homes and turned over to sheriff's deputies. Detective Sgts. Tammy Odom and Carl Lancaster conducted the investigation with assistance from Detectives Mike Reid and Chunn.
Fraud cases
Two men got more money than they were supposed to, according to Goldsboro police reports.
One man paid off a $1,475.34 debt to Security Financial Service on Dec. 15 with a $3,700 check. He then received a check for the difference of $2,224.66. The Security Financial check cleared, but the man's check was determined to be counterfeit.
The other man entered The Pantry convenience store at 2606 N. William St. between Sunday and Thursday with three $10 rolls of quarters to pay for gas and sodas. After he left, the rolls were opened and found to have a quarter on tops of game tokens.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*About $20 and 12 keys were stolen before dawn today after a door was damaged at a home in the 200 block of Dewey Street, Goldsboro police said. The resident, Richard John Williams Jr., put a $12 value on the keys and set damage at $50. A pair of pants also was stolen but later recovered. Williams said he saw a black man, about 50 years old and 5-feet-10 to 6-3 with a bald head, inside his home at about 2:30 a.m., the report said.
*Two rings and a compact disc player were stolen Thursday after a door was damaged at an apartment in the 500 block of East Beech Street, police said. The resident, T.L. Floyd, estimated the property's value at $550 and damage at $200.
*A case with compact discs was stolen between Thursday night and dawn today after a car window was smashed in the 1100 block of North Jefferson Avenue, police said. The owner and resident, Tasha Hill, also reported that a CD player was damaged. The stolen property was valued at $210 and damage was set at $325.
*A Huskee riding lawn mower with a 50-inch deck was stolen Thursday from a trailer parked in the owner's yard in the 100 block of Spearwood Drive, police said. James A. Towner said his mower was worth $2,100.
*A white, four-door 2001 Mazda 626 was stolen between Dec. 30 and Thursday from Deacon Jones Kia at 2077 U.S. 70 West, sheriff's deputies said. The car was worth $13,000.
Man wanted
Elliott
A 20-year-old Goldsboro man is wanted by Goldsboro police on charges of second-degree burglary and conspiracy.
Richard Shawnquale Elliott was described as being black, 5-feet-6 and 125 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information on his location was asked to call police Investigator K.S. Harris at 580-4242 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous, and they may be eligible for a cash reward.
Collisions
Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $10,300 in two recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*Damage was estimated at $9,000 in a one-vehicle wreck at 2:25 a.m. Tuesday on Tommy's Road near Saulston Road, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Ryan Eugene Evans, 21, of Antioch Loop Road, Pikeville, was charged with driving while impaired after his sport utility vehicle ran off the right side and overturned.
*Two passengers were injured in a one-car crash at 8:50 p.m. Monday on U.S. 117, north of N.C. 55, the Highway Patrol said. Inez Lucas, 20, of Courtyard Circle and Cyionna Boykin, 3 months, of Hopkins Street were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Their driver, Crystal Nicole Butler, 22, of Hopkins Street, said she had swerved to miss an animal in the road and her car ran off the left side and struck the median. No charges were filed. Damages were put at $1,300.
Missing
Two teen-agers have been reported missing to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Hicks
Daniel
*Christopher William Hicks, 17, of 216 Waldrop Road was described as white, 5-feet-8 and 160 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. When he was seen last at 11 a.m. Dec. 28, he said he was going for a walk. No clothing description was available.
*Jerunda Domonique Daniel, 14, of 3552 Indian Springs Road, Seven Springs, was described as black, 5-feet-3 and 128 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was seen last at 8 a.m. Tuesday, when she may have been wearing pink athletic shoes. No other clothing description was available.
Anyone with information on the location of either teen was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 735-2255.
