Progress Energy officials aren't sure what caused a power outage along New Hope Road on Thursday evening.
Keith Westbrook, spokes-man for Progress Energy, said that the line and service crews didn't find any problems with the line. Westbrook said the crews re-energized the line and it held, but have continued to check on it today.
He said that sometimes when there is a snow and ice storm, it will weaken a branch in a tree. Goldsboro was hit by a snow storm almost two weeks ago. The branch may not fall until sometime after the storm is over, Westbrook said, and take out a line.
Power was out for about an hour beginning at 6:30 p.m.
